In this post, we'll be covering the more popular La Jolla Secret Swings, which has a direct view of La Jolla Cove. This is a much easier location to get to (compared to Part 1) and requires little effort.
To get to this location, simply find the address for Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla, CA 92037). As you drive down Expedition Way towards Birch Aquarium, you'll find a parking lot to the left hand side. Enter the parking lot and drive until you reach the cul-de-sac (Coordinates: 32°51'53.9"N 117°14'54.2"W). There you will find two trees with a small wooden bridge in between. Cross over and walk up until you reach the trees at the top. You should be able to see the swing on the left on the way up.
You can go on this adventure any time (weather permitting), with the best time being around sunset. Keep in mind that most people go between 4-6PM, so plan accordingly. The swings are constantly changing, meaning they will be removed as the slogan, color, etc. is updated. To find the current status, search Secret Swings under Places in Instagram and make sure the most recent photos were posted 1-2 days prior. You can also check Stories in that location for a real-time update.
- Make sure to always check the current status by following the directions above.
- Go between 2-3PM to avoid crowds.
- If you come to this location, you might as well check out Part 1. It's only 10-15 minutes away.
